APPLICATIONS
|
Hexamethylphosphoric Triamide is a (high boiling point) strong aprotic solvent
which does not contain an O-H bond but contains a bond that has a large bond
dipole. Most dipolar aprotic solvents contain multiple bond between carbon
and either oxygen or nitrogen such as acetone [(CH3)2C=O]. It
hydrolyzes slowly in acids. It is used as a processing
solvent for polymers and as a selective solvent for gases. It is used as a
polymerisation catalyst and as a thermal and UV stabilizer for polystyrenes
and pvc. |
